New School Started
We started last Wed. (Aug. 1st) I wanted to get as much school done before Tommy gets here so we can take some time off when he does come.
Nora and Bekah are doing 2nd grade work. Doing great. We are using Lifepac for English, History, and Science and Math U See for Math.
Jeremiah is doing 'preschool' which is any moment I see as a learning chance. We go over colors, letter sounds, shapes, counting.....what ever I can get him to do.
James is going back to school too. He is going to be going on Mondays to get his Master's in Accounting. about 3 more years ahead.

Done for this school year
We are offically done. We have been done for 2 weeks but I have been so busy I haven't had time to post. Our last offical day was May 4th. Just because we aren't doing "school" doesn't mean we haven't been doing stuff. That is what I love about homeschooling. The kids are learning life skills as well as book stuff. We have been Spring cleaning and planting plants and riding bikes. Yeah for Summer!!!
I have bought most of my stuff for next year. I still have to buy our Math U See. I got Lifepac for English, History, and Science. Second Grade here we come.

April Update.
Not much to report. We are coming close to having official school done by 1st week in May. We are working a lot on reading and writing. They are doing really well. After we are done with this school year. I am going to keep them doing things so they don't lose what they have learned this year. We will be doing lots of reading this summer. And some 'fun' pages that keeps them doing math and writing.
Jeremiah is doing well in his stuff too. Mostly just working on colors, counting and ABC's Thanks to Leap Pad he knows all the sound of the letters.
Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Update.
Nora did wonderful on her trip. It was a learning experience for her and me.
We are still working on reading. Bekah and Nora are both doing good. Nora is having a little trouble with 'guessing' the words or she skips a letter. We are going to do a refresh course next week on sound and blending them together.
I have started ordering next years books off of ebay. I am trying to get the most I can off there to save money.
Our house has been crazy. We got a new dishwasher and today we are putting in new counters. Monday the dish guy is coming to put in a DVR and a line to the girls room. We also found out this week we are pregnant. I am due in Nov. If you click on my profile you will see my other blog about that.
Psalm 31:3 (NIV)
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me

Letting them fly.
Today is a hard day as a mother. Nora is going on a church thing with her youth group without me or James. She has to be at the church at 8:15 and will get back about 4 or so. I am so nervous. This is the first 'thing' away from us or family. I know she will be on her best behavior. One of the joys of homeschooling is that I have been there, everyday. And this is going to be a huge step for both of us. I am know she will do fine because she is very couragous. I guess this is a lesson today to....for both of us.

For next year
Well for next year I am getting Lifepac for English, Science, History, For Math I think we are going with Math U See. If not we will do Lifepac. I am also going to join the HSLDA . It is a organization that fights for the rights of homeschoolers in the USA.
I have already got the Science and History for both girls. Now just have to buy the rest of the stuff. I am going to start a little early this year so I can take some time off in November when I have the baby. Just a week or two. I know I can do school easier when the baby is really small and sleeps all the time.

Reading and more
School is going good. We are doing seatwork still but putting more focus on reading. I want them to be great readers. It is starting to click with both of them. They can read simple books with help. Leap Pad movie are so great. We are going to watch some today.
I haven't look much into curriculum since the last post. I just read something great about Bob Jones. So I am going to look into that too. I guess it is a good 'problem' to have so many different curriculum to choose from. That way whatever works best for your family is what you choose.

Looking ahead
I am looking ahead for next school year. I like to buy our books with our tax check. We haven't done our taxes yet but I have a pretty good idea of how much we are going to have. So I am trying to decide what books are best. I am think for Math going with Math U See. For everything else I am thinking of going back to Lifepac. I am going to look over the ones I like and pray about all of them. This is one of the joys of homeschooling. If we don't like how a textbook explains it but another does a better job we can go with that one. Also you can mix and match with different companies to get the best fit for your family.
Anyone who reads this and know of some different company please feel free to leave the info in my comments.

Above is a site you can put in any birthday and get a verse for that day. It is kinda of neat.

James~ 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Sarah~1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Nora~ Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from the beginning to end.
Bekah~Luke 11:9 NIV
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Jeremiah~John 4:14 NIV
but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life

100 Days

Today is our 100th day of homeschooling this year. We are so excitied. We are doing 100 theme stuff. Nora right now is counting to 100 LOL Then we are going to color a picture of what we would spend $100 on, today. Nora is drawing a bike and Bekah is drawing a scooter, bubble gum, and chair.
We have 80 offically days left of this school year. They love school so much I doubt it won't take long. (and won't end when the school year 'ends' ) We homeschool all the time.
Till next time
Homeschooling and Family.
This blog is going to be our family and homeschooling blog. I just started another blog about our trying for baby #4. Blogging is very addicting.
My kids have been homeschooled from the beginning. We have 2 doing 'seatwork' now. Nora (6) and Bekah (5) both doing first grade work. We are all loving it. Jeremiah (2) can do a lot of preschool stuff (ABC, colors, counting...) but doesn't have the motor skills as of yet.
So anyway This is the beginning....more to come.
