More fun stuff

We built the Pinta, Nina, and Santa Maria (Columbus's ships) out of Aluminum foil. The kids did well building them. Then we sailed them in our bath tub. The kids had lots of fun. Hopefully it will help the information stick with them.

The kids are loving My Father's World curriculum so far. They like the lighter Friday schedule and so do I.

Another year started

Jeremiah made me feel like I was raising a good young man. He put on his Spider man swim suit and had his "Baby" He was being a good little daddy.

We started school last Monday. It is going well. I was afraid it would be hard to get back into the swing of things but they did wonderful. We are doing Lifepac for English, Math U See Beta for Math and My Father's World for the rest. I am liking MFW (my father's world) it is easy to follow. I think the kids are enjoying it too. We are talking about World History and meaning of Names. They even made necklaces with their names. In the Science, we are doing the egg in water and in salt water. They liked that one. (pictures above) So I will try to keep this blog better this school year but you all know how that is.

208 down

208 is our workbook we just finished. Well technically it was book # 8 of grade 2 of Alpha Omega's Lifepac. We only have 209 and 210 left and we will be done for the year. We have 40 days of official school left so that is about 4 weeks per book. That is good. I am excited to be this close to the end of the school year. I am surprised on how well we did with me having a baby and my mom having a heart attack all at the end of October. We just kept moving and got it done on time.

School is going

We are almost done. We have about 140 ish days in. We have to do 180 for 'offical school year' in. We will get that in by the first of May. We will still do 'school' but more fun and creative stuff. I try to add that stuff in from time to time durning regular school days but it is easier when I don't have to do both.

Also we will spend more time outside. I am wanting spring and fresh air so bad. For some reason this winter has been the hardest. But soon we can go out and run around. Go to the park. Ride bikes. Soon

January Update

Well It has been awhile since I updated this. We are doing good. We are over half way done. We had a slow week last week because the kids were sick. But we are making up the work and getting back on track. The girls are doing well with reading. They are 'gettting it' which is great. It still takes awhile to read but they can. I hope they will enjoy the reading soon. I am thinking of planning on some reading time each day. Where everyone goes and reads something and then we can talk about it later. We will see how that goes.

New School Started

We started last Wed. (Aug. 1st) I wanted to get as much school done before Tommy gets here so we can take some time off when he does come.
Nora and Bekah are doing 2nd grade work. Doing great. We are using Lifepac for English, History, and Science and Math U See for Math.
Jeremiah is doing 'preschool' which is any moment I see as a learning chance. We go over colors, letter sounds, shapes, counting.....what ever I can get him to do.

James is going back to school too. He is going to be going on Mondays to get his Master's in Accounting. about 3 more years ahead.

Done for this school year

We are offically done. We have been done for 2 weeks but I have been so busy I haven't had time to post. Our last offical day was May 4th. Just because we aren't doing "school" doesn't mean we haven't been doing stuff. That is what I love about homeschooling. The kids are learning life skills as well as book stuff. We have been Spring cleaning and planting plants and riding bikes. Yeah for Summer!!!

I have bought most of my stuff for next year. I still have to buy our Math U See. I got Lifepac for English, History, and Science. Second Grade here we come.
